S'NEK: Autumn Fillers
AfterEffects, Corel, Illustrator, Photoshop Towards Fall 2006, S'NEK channel turned to imago once again, this time requesting a series of fillers to use in their Autumn programming.
We decided to work on the "gray Autumn" idea - rather than typical gold and red color schemes, we went with much more realistic approach (considering local weather conditions).
Throughout this project we produced numerous fillers. We would like to share two series with you, right below.
S'NEK: Autumn Fillers 01,02, 03: Rain
AfterEffects, PhotoshopEver since we produced Snow Valentines, back in 2005, Quba has been wondering about creating other atmospheric effects. Istanbul Autumn is heavy on rain, so it seemed like a good idea to bring a new challenge to the table right here.
Since the whole project was executed on a really tight budget and time restraints, we had no chance to conduct a proper shoot or 3D renders for any of the fillers. The entire project had to be executed within Adobe Production Suite.
In the end, we settled on generating rain maps (for both distant rain and the drops on the glass) using Trapcode Particular and then feeding that information to a variety of distortion plugins sitting on various AE 3D layers.
The project was fun to work on, but complete pain to render - over 25 layers of particle effects is something our computers still hate us for. The best part of it is that you probably will be only barely able to see the rain on the QuickTimes :)
Another fun fact: the project was executed on such tight schedule, there was practically no time for the photo shoot. The photos used were taken in the middle of Turkish summer, in full sun and then color corrected to create rainy feel. The photograph for the "French Street" has over 20 people photoshopped out of it - the place is always crowded, day and night.

S'NEK: Autumn Filler 04: Wood Theatre (Acts 1 & 2)
AfterEffects, Corel, Illustrator S'NEK programming director was quite fond of one of our older pieces, Nonesensuality. Her favorite part was the scene with wooden planks, and she asked us to explore the theme in some of the fillers.
Wood Theatre is a merger of the wooden scene from that video, and an earlier S'NEK filler - Everyday People. This time Quba was in charge of character design, creating a race of space aliens based on basic geometric forms.
In terms of color, we continued exploring the desaturated combinations and hues of rainy Autumn Istanbul.
